Booster Pump Services
Installation, repair and servicing of water pressure booster pump sets, pressure vessels and controls.
Overview
A booster pump set maintains water pressure to upper floors and to fittings that require a minimum operating pressure. When it fails or drifts out of adjustment, the symptoms are felt across the building — weak showers, fluctuating pressure and taps that surge or stall.
SPS Jetting installs, repairs and services booster pump sets, including multi-pump systems with duty rotation, pressure vessels, pressure switches, transducers and variable-speed controls.
Common works include replacing failed pumps, recharging or replacing waterlogged pressure vessels, correcting pressure settings, resolving rapid cycling and restoring duty/standby changeover so that wear is shared evenly between pumps.

Booster Pump Services — Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about booster pump services in Singapore, answered by our plumbing and drainage specialists.
Why is water pressure low on the upper floors of my building?
Low pressure at height is usually caused by a fault in the booster pump set rather than by the incoming supply. Typical causes include a failed pump, incorrect pressure settings, a waterlogged pressure vessel, a clogged strainer or a partially closed valve.
A low level in the storage tank feeding the pumps will produce the same symptom, so the tank, level controls and pump set should all be checked before concluding that the pumps themselves have failed.
What is a pressure vessel and why does it fail?
A pressure vessel stores a small volume of water under pressure so that minor demand can be met without starting the pump. Inside, a diaphragm separates the water from a cushion of compressed air.
Over time the air charge is lost or the diaphragm ruptures, and the vessel becomes waterlogged. The pump then starts and stops rapidly for even small draw-offs. Recharging or replacing the vessel is a relatively minor job that prevents considerable wear on the pump.
Why does my booster pump keep switching on and off?
Rapid cycling is most commonly caused by a waterlogged pressure vessel, incorrectly set cut-in and cut-out pressures, or a leak somewhere in the distribution pipework that causes pressure to drop continuously.
It should not be ignored. Each start places load on the motor and controls, and a pump that cycles constantly will fail far sooner than one operating normally.
How often should a booster pump set be serviced?
Six-monthly servicing suits most installations. A service should include testing each pump, verifying duty rotation and changeover, checking pressure settings, testing the pressure vessel charge, cleaning strainers and inspecting for leaks.
Where a set includes duty and standby pumps, confirming that changeover actually works is important — a standby pump that has not run for months may not start when it is finally called upon.
Can a booster pump be repaired, or must the whole set be replaced?
Individual components are routinely replaced. Pressure switches, transducers, vessels, strainers and single pumps within a multi-pump set can all be renewed without replacing the entire installation.
Full replacement is usually considered where several pumps have failed, where the control system is obsolete and parts are no longer available, or where the set is no longer correctly sized for the building's current demand.
