Copper Pipe Replacement
Replacement of corroded or leaking copper water supply pipework, including risers, concealed runs and fittings.
Overview
Copper is the traditional material for potable water supply pipework in Singapore buildings. It is durable and well suited to pressurised water service, but after decades of use it develops pinhole leaks, corrosion at fittings and thinning of the pipe wall.
Pinhole leaks are particularly troublesome because they often occur in concealed pipework — within walls, ceiling voids and risers — so the first sign is usually damp staining or an unexplained rise in water consumption rather than visible water.
SPS Jetting replaces copper supply pipework for residential, commercial and industrial properties, covering leak tracing, replacement of affected runs or complete risers, renewal of fittings and valves, pressure testing and reinstatement of surfaces opened for access.
What We Do
Leak Tracing
Locating concealed leaks in copper supply pipework before opening walls or ceilings unnecessarily.
Pipework Replacement

Valves & Fittings
Renewal of isolation valves, connections and fittings that have corroded or seized.
Testing & Reinstatement
Pressure testing of new pipework followed by patching, screeding and making good.

Copper Pipe Replacement — Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about copper pipe replacement in Singapore, answered by our plumbing and drainage specialists.
What causes pinhole leaks in copper pipes?
Pinhole leaks are caused by localised corrosion that gradually perforates the pipe wall from one side. Contributing factors include water chemistry, high flow velocity causing erosion at bends, residual flux left after soldering, and stray electrical currents.
They tend to appear once pipework has been in service for a long period, and where one pinhole leak has developed, others frequently follow along the same run — which is why replacing the affected section is often more effective than patching the single hole.
How do I know if a concealed copper pipe is leaking?
- Damp patches, staining or blistering paint on walls and ceilings.
- A musty smell in an area with no visible water source.
- An unexplained increase in the water bill.
- A drop in water pressure at fittings served by that run.
- The sound of running water when all fittings are closed.
Leak tracing should be carried out before opening up finishes. Locating the leak first limits the amount of hacking required and keeps reinstatement costs down.
Should I repair one leak or replace the whole run?
Repairing a single leak is reasonable where the pipework is otherwise in good condition and the leak is the result of an isolated cause, such as accidental damage.
Where the pipe is old and a pinhole leak has developed through corrosion, replacement of the affected run is usually the better decision. Repeated repairs to concealed pipework are costly, because each repair means opening and reinstating finishes again.
Can copper pipework be replaced without extensive hacking?
Often, yes. Where pipework runs in risers, ducts or above accessible ceilings, replacement can be carried out with little or no hacking. In some cases a new run can be installed along an alternative route, leaving the old pipe abandoned in place.
Where pipework is fully embedded in walls or floors, some hacking is unavoidable. Accurate leak tracing beforehand keeps this to the minimum necessary.
How long does copper pipe replacement take?
Replacing an accessible section is typically a half-day to one-day job including testing. Replacing a riser or a substantial concealed run in an occupied property usually takes several days once access, testing and reinstatement are included.
Water supply will be interrupted while the new pipework is connected and tested. We confirm the expected duration in advance so occupants can be notified.
