Plumbing & Sanitary Repairs — Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about plumbing & sanitary repairs in Singapore, answered by our plumbing and drainage specialists.
What plumbing and sanitary works do you carry out?
We cover repair, replacement and maintenance of water supply and sanitary systems: leaking pipework, taps, valves and fittings, WC and basin installation, floor traps, water heaters connections, and the pipework serving kitchens, bathrooms and plant areas.
Works range from single repairs in a residential unit to planned replacement programmes across commercial and institutional buildings.
How do I find a hidden water leak?
- Damp patches, staining or peeling paint on walls and ceilings.
- An unexplained increase in water consumption.
- Reduced water pressure at particular fittings.
- The sound of running water when everything is turned off.
- A musty smell with no visible source.
A simple check is to close all fittings and observe the water meter. If it continues to register consumption, water is escaping somewhere in the installation and the leak should be traced before finishes are opened up.
Why does my floor trap smell or drain slowly?
A slow floor trap is usually obstructed by hair, soap residue, lint and grease. A smell, on the other hand, often indicates a dry or defective trap seal allowing drain air into the room.
If a trap is used infrequently, the water seal evaporates and odours pass freely — running water into it periodically resolves this. Where the smell persists despite a full trap, the connected drainage should be inspected.
Do you handle leaking pipes inside walls and floors?
Yes. Concealed leaks are traced first, so that the amount of hacking is kept to what is genuinely necessary. The affected pipework is then replaced and pressure tested before the area is made good.
Where the pipework is old and the leak is the result of corrosion rather than damage, replacing the run is usually more economical than repairing a single point that is likely to be followed by others.
Do you take on plumbing maintenance for buildings and MCSTs?
Yes. We provide scheduled maintenance and reactive call-out cover for condominiums, commercial buildings, factories and institutional properties, including plumbing, drainage, pumps and tanks under one contractor.
Handling these systems together is usually more efficient, since drainage, pump and tank issues are frequently connected and are otherwise split between separate contractors.
