Diverter Pump Services

Supply, repair and servicing of diverter pumps, and temporary flow diversion so drainage works can go ahead while the building stays in use.

Diverter Pump Services

Overview

Diverter pumps move water or wastewater away from its normal route — from one line, sump or tank to another. Some are permanent parts of a building's drainage or water system; others are set up temporarily so that a section of drain, chamber or tank can be isolated for works.

SPS Jetting supplies, installs, repairs and services diverter pumps and their controls, and plans temporary flow diversion for our own drainage works, including pipe replacement, pipe lining, inspection chamber waterproofing and tank cleaning.

Diversion is sized to the expected flow so that toilets, kitchens and drains can stay in use while the works are carried out.

Diverter Pump Services — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about diverter pump services in Singapore, answered by our plumbing and drainage specialists.

What is a diverter pump used for?

A diverter pump moves water or wastewater away from its normal route, from one line, sump or tank to another. Permanent diverter pumps are used where flows need to be redirected as part of how a system runs, for example between sumps, tanks or treatment stages.

Diversion pumping is also used temporarily during maintenance, to carry flows around a section of drain, chamber or tank so the works can go ahead while the rest of the building stays in use.

When is temporary flow diversion needed?

Diversion is needed whenever a live drain, sewer line, chamber or tank has to be isolated, such as during pipe replacement, pipe lining, inspection chamber waterproofing, or tank and sump cleaning. Without it, the work area keeps receiving flow, which makes the job unsafe and the result less reliable.

The pumps, hoses and controls are sized to the expected flow so the building's toilets and drains can keep being used while the works are in progress.

Can the building still use its toilets and drains during diversion works?

In most cases, yes. Keeping the building running is the whole point of diversion: flows are pumped around the work area and discharged downstream.

There may be short restrictions while pumps are set up or switched over, or during very high flows. These are planned with building management in advance so occupants can be informed.

What does diverter pump servicing involve?

Servicing covers the pumps and the controls that run them: pump operation, noise and vibration, impellers and seals, float switches and level controls, valves, the control panel and alarms.

Where the pump sits in a pit or sump, the pit is cleaned of silt and debris at the same time so the pump is not damaged by what it is drawing in.

Do you supply and install new diverter pumps?

Yes. We assess the flow and lift required, recommend a suitable pump and controls, and carry out supply, installation and commissioning, including the discharge pipework and electrical connections.
